Democratic State Committee to answer suit over primaries
In Little Rock on June 12 the Democratic State committee prepared to file its answer to a suit testing the 1949 act that separated state and federal primaries. Lee Whittaker of Fort Smith seeks to place his name on the August 13 state run off ballot. Parker of Dardanelle filed an intervention challenging Act 107. The committee plans an early court decision and appointed a subcommittee to respond to Whittaker’s mandamus proceeding.
