Brooklyn cabbie helps build Kings Bay Boys Club
Joe Ciervo, a cab driver, spearheaded the Kings Bay Boys Club in Sheepshead Bay. From a basement plan in 1960 to two local ballfields and a field house, volunteers raised funds through bingo, benefits, and dinners. The club, now on paid-off city land, hosts leagues and summer games for dozens of youths in Brooklyn.
