The Associated Press reports mild temperatures and a rain threat for Arkansas tonight and Thursday. The National Weather Service places rain probability at 2 percent, with a similar 2 percent chance of thunder showers in the northwest region today as a large high pressure center moves through.
Northerly flow keeps skies clear across Arkansas with no precipitation overnight. Temperatures to reach around 90 degrees in many areas with a southerly air movement. Extended outlook shows a chance of showers in east Arkansas Friday and Sunday, with weekend highs in the 80s and lows in the 60s. Overnight lows range from the 54 to 70 region across listed cities.

Obituaries list Annie Watkins 87 died in Denver with funeral at Lonoke Baptist Church in Arkansas. Toby Belcher 93 of Nashville died in Howard County hospital with services at Mt Zion Baptist Church. Minnie Boyette 82 died in Pine Bluff after 17 years in city. Jack Bundy 44 noted with funeral in West Memphis.
Patti Manus director spoke at the Lions luncheon at the Sheraton Inn detailing the School of Hope’s growth from a six-child start in a Boy Scout hut to a $154,000 facility with 44 students. She described expanded services, reported on regional and state Special Olympics, and noted medals won by participants, including six from the School of Hope.
After a lengthy foreign policy debate, the Senate will vote on a $1.2 billion amendment within a $30.3 billion weapons authorization. The Delta Queen and the Natchez IX will race five miles from Audubon Park to Toulouse Street Wharf watched by crowds along the Mississippi. The event marks the first local steamboat race since 1870, with ground rules set and finish marked by fireboats.
