Air Force Captain Britt posthumously honored for Congo operations
Captain Tommy M. Britt received the Air Force Commendation Medal posthumously from General Ernest C. Hardin Jr. for outstanding work as operations officer with the Joint Task Force in Leopoldville Congo from September 2 to 29, 1964, before dying in a March aircraft accident near Evreux France. The award was accepted by his widow and son. Britt hailed from Hope and was the son of Mr and Mrs John Britt.

Faubus Says Highway Works May Start as Funds Arrive
Gov. Orval Faubus announced that the state Highway Department can begin road projects once new money becomes available. He cited $7.8 million likely within two to three weeks from a debt service reserve fund and revenue from a one cent gas tax increase starting immediately.
