Arkansas Weather Outlook With Scattered Showers
The Associated Press reports scattered afternoon and evening showers and thundershowers in southern Arkansas today and Thursday, spreading northward Thursday. Probability runs 30 percent in the south and 20 percent in the central region, with light showers starting Tuesday night—the first in three days. The National Weather Service cautions wet conditions across portions of the state.

FEA Urges End to Decorative Gas Lamps Nationwide
Dallas regional FEA administrator Delbert M. Fowler says decorative gas lamps waste energy, consuming about 18 000 cubic feet of natural gas yearly. He notes the gas lamp uses three times as much fuel as powering a 60 watt electric bulb for a day, urging voluntary retirement of the lamps.
