The Associated Press reports Arkansas has gone over 48 hours without rain and may stay dry for another 24. The National Weather Service notes no rain statewide today with a 20 percent chance of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms in the southern and eastern regions.

Steven M. Walters, son of Col. (Ret.) Jesse L. Walters of Clarksville Tennessee, received a bachelor’s in electrical engineering as MIT’s 109th commencement honored 1417 degree recipients. He played on the tennis and rifle teams and belonged to Phi Beta Epsilon. Walters awaits active duty orders as Major General Hugh F Foster Jr spoke at the ceremony.

He notes areas designated as hazard zones will no longer qualify for many federal loans from agencies like FHA VA or SBA, and that the division at 1200 Westpark Little Rock will assist communities in applying for relief programs.
