Temperature records set as July morning temps dip

The temperature in Little Rock fell to 57 degrees this morning, a July 14 record low surpassing the 58 degree mark set in 1964. Overnight lows across Arkansas included Pine Bluff 62, El Dorado 62, Texarkana 61, Fort Smith 59, Fayetteville 49, Harrison 53, Jonesboro 58 and Memphis 63.

Hope Star weather outlook July heat return to Hope Arkansas

A Hope Star weather brief reports temperatures will rise to the mid and upper 90s by Tuesday with a southeasterly flow bringing more moisture and scattered showers and thunder storms across the state. Overnight lows mid 60s. Experiment station notes show highs near 89 and lows in the upper 50s to low 60s over the past two days.

The 1950 Hope High School graduates plan a summer reunion with only five individuals uncontacted. Dr Perry Purtle will lead an old fashioned revival at Grace Baptist Church July 14 18 nightly at 7 30 pm.

Guadalajara’s Degollado Theater Showcases Flourishing Arts Scene

Guadalajara, Mexico’s second city, hosts a thriving arts calendar under Bellas Artes with symphony concerts, dance, theater, and visual arts. The Degollado Theater hosts the Guadalajara Symphony Orchestra led by Kenneth Klein with Mischa Dichter, and the Philharmonic Chorus under Audrey Oppenheim. The Guadalajara Theater Guild stages English language plays while international troupes visit yearly. Future plans include The Night of The Iguana and The Odd Couple. Betty Jo Starling Busbee 42 of Dierks Ark died Saturday in Nashville hospital. Born Nov 12 1932 in Amity Ark she belonged to the Church of Christ. Services 2 p.m. at Dierks Church of Christ with Loyd Collier officiating. Burial Friendship Cemetery near Amity. Survivors: husband Bobby Buzbee son Richard Dale Buzbee daughter Martha Jo Buzbee mother Martha Lois Williams Spurlin and many relatives. Lena Cornish Terrell 88 of Murfreesboro Ark died Saturday in a Murfreesboro hospital. Born Sept 26 1886 in Nathan Ark she was widow of Marvin D Terrell and oldest member of Murfreesboro First Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school for 60 years and led W M A PTA and Home Demonstration Club. Burial Murfreesboro Cemetery. Survivors: son Marice Terrell three daughters Effie Lee Terrell Madena McCafferty Ruth Higgins seven grandchildren seven great grandchildren.
