The Associated Press reports thundershowers will increase this afternoon and tonight across most of Arkansas, then ease in the north by Friday as a weak cool front moves southeast. Temperatures mid 90s widespread with precipitation drifting south from Missouri.
Hope Star reports lighter central and northern Arkansas temperatures tonight and Friday with highs mostly in the upper 80s to low 90s, regional cooling near a front in the central to southern areas. Experiment station data show 95 high and 69 low for 24 hours ending Thursday morning, as hot humid conditions persist.

The Rev John Jacob from Jallas Texas will guest evangelist at First Assembly of God July 13 18. He is German born Jew who fled to China under Hitler regime and later moved to the United States. He will give his personal testimony Sunday at 11 a.m. about faith in Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Special music directed by Larry Keel with evening service at 6 p.m. and weekday services 7 p.m. Public invited.
Cher announced she seeks a divorce from rock musician Gregg Allman after nine days of marriage citing irreconcilable differences. Both sides claimed a misunderstanding and contemplated reconciling, with Allman recording in Macon while Cher left for an undisclosed location.
Dublin police captured 38 year old IRA Provisional commander David OConnell in a Dublin suburb as violence strained the five month old Northern Ireland cease fire. He was taken to Bridgewell Jail for questioning and his successor may be Seamus Twomey. A bomb attack in Londonderry followed his capture with no injuries. Protestants urged a tougher British policy against the group.
In 1927 a vast iceberg spanning 10,000 square miles drifted past the Falkland Islands off Argentina. It was eight times the size of Rhode Island, making it a remarkable example of early 20th century polar ice movement observed from distant shores.
