Cranston sustains leg injury at masters track meet

Oakland California AP Sen. Alan Cranston is nursing a sore leg muscle after reportedly pulling a muscle in his upper right leg during a 100 meter dash at the Second Masters Regional track meet. The 61-year-old Democrat, a former arch critic of the Vietnam War, was running for time when the setback occurred. no official updates on his condition were immediately available.

Corning Reels at Car Sticker Plan to Fund Ambulance

Corning Ark voters rejected a plan for a five dollar city car sticker intended to fund an ambulance service. With no local doctor or hospital residents rely on nearby Piggott for care and the city would have diverted street funds to operate the ambulance. The two vehicle sticker proposals failed by margins of 146 139 and 139 122.

In Little Rock the state Soil and Water Conservation Commission faces questions over alleged falsification of minutes from its June 26 meeting. Attorney for the commission doubts the attorney general can overrule the panel.
