Precipitation in Arkansas will be confined to the south half today and Saturday with mainly afternoon and night showers. A meandering cool front is affecting Arkansas weather, with rain chances around 20 to 30 percent as the front reaches southern Arkansas.
Drier air and northerly winds follow a cold front with cooler conditions expected. Northern Arkansas sees fair skies while central and southern areas face partly cloudy weather. Highs mid to upper 80s, with cooler 80s in the north by Saturday. 0.61 inch of rain fell in Little Rock from a thunderstorm line. Tornado touches down near Junction City, several trees knocked over. four houses and a mobile home struck by lightning in El Dorado.
Obituaries list Edward Eddie West 79 of 822 South Walnut Hope died at a local hospital. Survived by wife Faye, son Harold, daughters Carolyn Lindsey and Edna Faye Maxwell, brother Robert West, two grandchildren and a great grandchild. Funeral Saturday 2 p.m. Oak Crest Chapel. Burial Shower Springs Cemetery. Also noted are Mrs Martin D Ecclesine formerly Iva Hipp of Hope who died in Berkley Michigan, and Scott McKee of Houston formerly of Hope, with services and burial details. Lula Wesson Boles of Center Point Ark died age 89. Services noon Saturday Wesley United Methodist Church Center Point Ark. Burial Center Point Cemetery. Surviving families listed including five sons, six daughters, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. San Francisco AP report says Municipal Court Judge Noel Cannon of Los Angeles County was removed by the California Supreme Court for a pattern of conduct that maligned her office and showed lack of temperament. Cannon, 48, had a history including theatrical behavior in chambers and a prior censure in 1967. The removal order is effective immediately with possible appeal.
