Prosecutor Jailed In Row With Court Over Graft Case
First Assistant State's Attorney John Northrup, key figure in a $5,000,000 graft prosecution against Sanitary District officials, was jailed for five days and fined $500 after contempt of court for snapping fingers and defiant conduct toward Judge Philip L. Sullivan. Northrup, who had acted to secure Timothy Connolly as a potential witness, warned he would appeal, while asserting no jurisdiction or power over the court.
