Oil tanker Hawaiian Patriot sinks after explosion

The 12 year old Liberian registered tanker Hawaiian Patriot exploded burned and sank about 320 miles west of Honolulu. One crewman was killed and 38 rescued by a nearby merchant ship as the vessel carrying roughly 28 million gallons of crude oil from Indonesia to Hawaii reported a leak of about five million gallons before the blast.

Amin orders Americans in Uganda to meet him Monday

President Idi Amin ordered all Americans in Uganda to meet him on Monday and barred departures until after the meeting. A Ugandan information official said Americans would be free to leave afterward if they wish, with about 250 Americans estimated to be in the country.
