Pryor Arkansas Plan Faces Narrow Setback In Council
Arkansas Governor David Pryor narrowly averted a decisive defeat as the Legislative Council voted 114 to approve a $650 annual teacher raise amid missing members. Pryor backers argued higher pay would strain funds while linking tax cuts and local option taxes to broader reforms. Only a few lawmakers supported the bigger raise, with budget concerns and education funding cited as priorities. Natural geysers are found on Iceland in the North Atlantic.
