He had been released from state prison and was known in Hope boxing circles as a former show fighter.
Curtis Cannon former Hempstead county representative in the legislature was locked in the city jail about midnight Tuesday after an altercation with William Ramsey owner of the Checkered cafe. Cannon, who recently represented a Texarkana printing concern in Shreveport, came into the cafe intoxicated and threatened to return with a gun after being expelled. Police arrested him and he was released Wednesday morning with no charges filed by Wednesday noon.
