The National Weather Service reports high moisture in eastern Arkansas this morning with the greatest chance of showers in that region. A cold front is expected to join a strong surface trough to influence today’s weather.

The Hope Church of the Nazarene will hold groundbreaking ceremonies Sunday afternoon after morning worship. The Rev. Thomas Hermon district superintendent will officiate after delivering the morning message at the Rosston Road building site. All members and friends are invited.
Tina Adams and her brother Tommy, both deaf or hard of hearing, connected with Santa through sign language at a department store visit guided by West Texas Rehabilitation Center teachers. Santa, who learned sign language years ago, expressed joy at understanding the children and asked Tommy about his Christmas dreams.
State Police said 25-year-old Gerald Lynn Foster of Norphiet died in an El Dorado hospital from injuries from a Friday night two-vehicle crash near Norphlet on Arkansas 335. Johnny Spitler, 31, also of Norphlet, was killed in the crash according to Trooper Bill Young.
A White County man, Wayne Altom, 43, of Joy, was killed Tuesday after a cable fell from a tractor and became entangled around a wheel, flinging the cable and striking him, authorities said. Coroner Allan Foster identified the victim.

The Howard County Sheriff hunts for Hershel Junior Martin after a knife attack and attempted robbery on 5 year old Mrs. Tom Crawford at a Mineral Springs area grocery store. The assailant fled in a black Buick Wildcat later abandoned. warrant expected for armed robbery and attempted murder.
