The National Weather Service reports a warmup with highs around the 60s and fair skies today and tonight. Increasing clouds and slightly higher temperatures are expected Wednesday with overnight lows mostly in the 30s. Local readings range from Pine Bluff 31 to Texarkana 33.

The Reverend Jim L. Bennett newly approved Assemblies of God missionary to Lebanon will speak at 7 p.m. Wednesday at First Assembly of God Church 322 N Main Hope. Bennett and his wife Theda will work with Middle East Outreach in Beirut and support Bible courses and radio broadcasts to 100 million Arabs. The couple, former pastors from Arkansas, will study Arabic at American University in Beirut during their first year.
South Vietnamese forces report gains in the Mekong Delta and Kien Duc in the central highlands. A government communique tallies 68 NVA Viet Cong casualties in three delta assaults, with 1 soldier killed and 11 wounded. Viet Cong shelled Trang Bang, killing 20 militia and wounding 4. Large NVA forces mass near Kien Duc as sporadic shelling continues.
