The Associated Press reports a cold front crossed Arkansas overnight. A Pacific air mass will dominate the mid-south for the next couple of days as a low pressure center in west central Illinois draws cooler air from the north into the region.
Arkansas experiences colder air as a Pacific front advances with dewpoints dropping. National forecast calls for partly cloudy skies, windy and cooler conditions today and tonight with a high in the upper 50s to upper 60s and mid 30s to mid 60s Friday. Overnight lows mainly in the 30s. report includes city temperatures for Pine Bluff El Dorado Texarkana Fayetteville Harrison Jonesboro Memphis Little Rock and Fort Smith and rainfall traces in Pine Bluff Harrison Jonesboro and Little Rock. State forecast predicts fair cool weather tonight and Friday with highs mid 50s to mid 60s and lows in the 30s.
The Rev. and Mrs. Perry Ellis, Southern Baptist missionaries from Sao Paulo Brazil, will speak Sunday night at the First Baptist Church. Ellis, a Baylor and Southeastern Seminary graduate, has led 500 crusades, recorded music, and performed at Royal Albert Hall. The family includes Aurum Richard and Johnson. Mrs. Ellis will lead the 5:45 p.m. sanctuary session, the children will provide music, and Ellis will preach.
State Police report two women died in a two vehicle collision on U S 71 about one mile south of Greenland Arkansas. Victims identified as Evelyn W Tullis 51 of Bentonville and Sharon Kay Gregory 32 of West Fork. Also contains a March zodiac column with general forecasts.
Hope School District boards approves Title II ESEA funds to establish a computer center serving Lewisville Magnolia Fairview Ashdown Arkadelphia and Camden. Also approves renovation of gym and classroom into library and counseling center to meet North Central standards plus a $50 000 Revolving Loan Fund construction loan. Budget taxes set for 1975 76. Personnel committee named. Mention of first English settlement at Janestown May 13.
Isaac Alexander Wilson 77 died Wednesday in a Texarkana hospital after a short illness. A Kentucky native, he lived 25 years in Texarkana after leaving Prescott and was a retired upholstery man. Survivors include wife Mary a son James Wilson De Queen two daughters Mary Beggs Texarkana Clara Horton Camden Ark a brother Garland Wilson Jackson Mich two sisters Edith Wilson Lillian McLaughlin Gordon seven grandchildren two great grandchildren Funeral services are pending at Texarkana Funeral Home.
ADAK Alaska AP All 10 men aboard a four engine C118 transport plane are believed dead after a crash on Great Sitkin Island during a landing approach to Adak to ferry Navy personnel home for Christmas. The aircraft based at Whidbey Island Washington left Elmendorf Alaska refueled and was last heard 40 miles from Adak. Wreckage found at 4700 feet but landing hindered by winds. Navy says no survivors. Pilot Lt Cmdr David M Monroe of Seattle identified. Eight Navy reservists and two active duty personnel on board.
Rankin Danny Rankin, superintendent of the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism, spoke to Kiwanis about Washington Foundation Restoration evolving into a state park. The plan aims to finish by January 31, 1974, with 25 to 30 buildings restored from the 1850 era and as many as 700 acres included. He noted federal and state funds will finance further work and answered questions from members.
Two Jefferson County men died in a two vehicle crash on US 65 six miles north of Pine Bluff Arkansas. Trooper Robert Felcher identified the victims as Arthur B. Bates 58 of Redfield and Robert C. Poole 63 of Pine Bluff. Seven other people were injured in the wreck.
