The Associated Press reports partly cloudy skies and warm temperatures will persist in Arkansas through Wednesday. The National Weather Service expects lows tonight in the mid 60s to mid 70s and highs Wednesday in the 90s with widely scattered afternoon and evening thundershowers possible. The long range outlook is for more of the same.
The Hope Star notes a continued mild weather pattern through the week with overnight lows reported as 68 at Pine Bluff and El Dorado, 67 at Texarkana and Little Rock, 61 at Fayetteville and Harrison, and 68 at Fort Smith. Rainfall in the last 24 hours includes .06 inches at El Dorado, .03 at Texarkana, and .29 at Harrison, plus an experiment station reading of .55 inches from the 24 hours ending 7 a.m. Tuesday, with a high of 98 and a low of 64. Billy Joe Greeson, 45, of Lake Charles, La., formerly of Hope, died Sunday. He is survived by his wife LaVeta Byers, three children, his mother Lois Greeson of Arkadelphia, his father William Greeson of Mt. Ida, and a sister Raymond Byers of Hope. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later.
C M Lum Rogers a longtime Hempstead and Nevada Counties resident turned 92 on August 16 at Pinehope Nursing Home where he lives. Four children Pod Rogers Mrs Olin Purtell Mrs Tom Duckett and Mrs HR Greghorn hosted a birthday party. Rogers shared his cake with nurses patients and visiting friends and relatives.
Alcoa will stop producing Alcoa Wrap Wear-Ever Foil and private label brands for supermarkets and retailers by December 31 due to a aluminum shortage. Reynolds Metal Co reports ingot prices rose from 25 to 36 cents per pound since December, affecting foil costs. Alcoa will continue heavy duty foil for institutions and restaurants.

Two killed and two injured when a car left Arkansas 90 on a curve, crossed a 90 foot creek, struck the opposite bank and rolled over about 2.5 miles southwest of Ravenden Springs. Driver Clara Jean Griffith, 18, and passenger Susan Spears, 13, both of Ravenden Springs, identified by Cpl. W. R. Evans. The crash occurred late Monday night, with investigation by State Police. Also included: Fish and Wildlife Service plans to restructure its law enforcement division into 13 districts each led by a special agent to enhance wildlife crime investigations.
