Gaylord Solomon told the Hope Rotary Club at Town and Country on Friday that Hope High athlete David Johnson will join the U of A this fall. The 19 year old 6 foot 210 pound back rushed for 4 500 yards and 48 touchdowns in high school while attracting interest from 30 colleges. Solomon praised U of A for high recruiting standards and noted college pressure can backfire.
Mrs J D Hays of 607 South Fulton St died in a local hospital early Monday. Surviving are her husband J D Hays two stepsons and daughters and many grandchildren.
