Funeral services for Juanez Williamson 56 sister of E B Williamson were held at Billstown Church of Christ with burial in Billstown cemetery. Survivors include her mother Mrs Vivian Stone Williamson and sister Mrs Clarine Womac both of Murfreesboro Ark. Funeral services for Joseph Floyd Mangum 79 were held at Herndon Chapel with burial in Water Creek cemetery Guernsey. He died Sunday in a local hospital and is survived by two sons three daughters 29 grandchildren 20 great grandchildren and one sister. Western Samoa became independent January 1 1962 describing its location in the South Pacific.

Texarkana College reports 146 degree applications

Registrar K B Davis says 146 students have filed for Associate Degrees at Texarkana College with the graduation set for May 19. Storm relief efforts by Hope Jaycees aid Warren tornado impact

The Hope Jaycees and Jaycettes held a rummage sale on April 5. Unsold items were boxed and delivered to Warren Arkansas by Mr and Mrs Mike Roberts to assist the tornado stricken town. Jaycees statewide joined Warren cleanup crews to clear storm debris.

Willock to Face Change of Venue Hearing Today

Essie Mae Willock, 18, of Louisville Kentucky, one of three women charged in the April shooting death of Hazen policeman Morris Greenwalt, appears before a change of venue hearing in Lonoke Arkansas. Greenwalt stopped a vehicle on Interstate 40 near Hazen after a Brinkley store robbery. Willock’s accomplices Brenda Kay Spencer and Tucille Smith have been convicted and given life terms.

Local residents asked to help Viet refugees

Major Jack Lloyd of the DeAnn area, veteran of six years in South Vietnam, now on the staff of West Point, urged local groups to aid anti Communist Vietnamese families facing danger as Saigon falls. Washington reports about 20 million Americans face a midnight deadline to mail tax returns and most late filers owe money. IRS data show 48.6 million returns processed with 41.5 million refunds averaging 383 dollars. Kissinger urges more aid for South Vietnam

Secretary Kissinger told the Senate Appropriations Committee that Congress should approve President Ford's request for 722 million in military aid and 259 million in economic aid for South Vietnam. Chemical fire at Monette gin near Jonesboro under control

A chemical fire at the Monette Cooperative gin near Jonesboro was brought under control after burning around 200 tons of ammonium nitrate. No evacuation was planned. The blaze began about 8:30 p.m. Monday. investigators do not know its cause. Fire units, the Craighead County sheriff Iiffice, and state police remained on site to guard against spread near an ammonia tank.
