The Associated Press reports scattered showers may linger in the eastern Arkansas through Friday. The National Weather Service forecasts partly cloudy skies and mild temperatures today with isolated showers in the southern portion. Tonight should see more clouds and continued mild temps with a few showers in the southeast half of the state.
The Hope Star reports a Friday forecast of decreasing clouds and mild temperatures with a chance of showers in the east, as a Gulf Coast frontal system brings weak upper disturbances. It lists statewide highs in the 60s to 70s, overnight lows in the 40s, and regional rainfall totals from 0.10 to 0.96 inches. An experiment station reading notes a 24 hour period ending Thursday with a high of 77 and a low of 33.

Arkansas retained its position as the top broiler producing state in the nation, but gross income from chickens, eggs and broilers in 1974 declined six percent from 1973 to $568.9 million. Broilers accounted for 64.7 percent of income, eggs 33.2 percent, and chickens 2.1 percent.

Medical Examiner Dr. Rodney Carlton said Zachry was shot six times. any of three wounds could be fatal.
Vincent Foster of the Red River Valley Association said ARVA grant requests will go to a congressional committee next months to fund a district water project. The plan foresees 6 million gallons per day initially, rising to 10 million, with costs borne by bond sales and user charges.
