The Associated Press reports a pleasant weekend for Arkansans with fair skies and mild temperatures. The forecast calls for decreasing cloudiness and cooler conditions into Monday with little or no precipitation expected through Tuesday.
The Hope Star reports a Gulf Coast front moving south with a high pressure system bringing drier air and the end of recent precipitation in Arkansas. Highs will be in the 60s to near 70, with lows in the 40s, and a slight warming trend into Sunday. Rain chances exist mainly in southern Arkansas Monday. otherwise dry through Tuesday. Also listed are staff roles, circulation details, and subscription rates.
James Robert Smith of Little Rock died in a early day car crash on a county road near Little Rock. He was thrown from the car and pinned under it. Melvin Jamies Hoss, 37, also of Little Rock, a 4 passenger, was injured. Charles Wesley Roberts, 72, Republican national chairman under Eisenhower, died of a heart attack Wednesday.
A DC3 carrying American and international crew crashed after takeoff from besieged Phnom Penh airport, killing the American civilian pilot and two Chinese crewmen while another Cambodian crewman was seriously injured. Government forces halted insurgents near the airport as fighting continued.

Hope Police Chief Harvey Fullerton found the alleged weapon used in the killing of Davis nearby the scene. A .22 revolver with four spent bullets and five remaining in the chamber were recovered. Graves is a suspect with no charges filed yet as the investigation continues at the Blue Room on South Hazel. Davis worked at Myers Bakers and was engaged to Shirley Bavts. his parents are Mr and Mrs Charles Davis Sr and he had four children.
Obituary notices report the deaths of Robert L. Wilson 91 of Patmos David Lee Rosenbaum 33 of Lancaster and Marion Ray Knighton 35 of Hope. Wilson survived by Maggie two sons Albert and Clifford a daughter Hazel and grandchildren. services at Patmos Church of Christ and Pleasant Valley Cemetery conducted by Herndon Funeral Home. Rosenbaum died at Parkland Hospital Dallas April 10 survive two daughters and a son parents siblings and grandparents listed with services pending at Herndon Funeral Home in Hope. Knighton killed in a Dallas area car wreck survived by a son Charles Edward and daughter Marilyn Jean, parents Clarence and Bessie Knighton, siblings and Vickie Ann Knighton, with burial at Watercreek Cemetery by Oakcrest Funeral Home.

Babe Ruth tryouts at Legion Field moved from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. due to a track meet. Grace Baptist Church offers a bus ministry for all ages with Sunday school transportation via 8004. Hempstead Quail Association meets at Rodeway Restaurant Monday April 14 at 7:30 p.m. State Game and Fish explains habitat program with door prizes.
In Lisbon six major parties signed a draft constitution under military pressure, ceding supreme authority to the armed forces. Delegates from seven parties were set to election on April 2 for a constitutional assembly, while six leftist groups refused to sign. The Revolutionary Military Council would shape policy toward a Portuguese socialist system.
Joe O Finn reports cattle market results with receipts around 1100 and last week 561. Slaughter cows mostly 15 to 20 lower, bulls steady to higher, feeders mixed. Replacement cows and cow calf pairs show strong price ranges, with Springer and 2-4 year olds noted and calf side values $161 to $220 per pair.
