Arrnett predicts Saigon fall within a month
AP war correspondent Peter Arnett told the AP meeting that Saigon could fall to the Communists in about a month with Americans at greater risk from panicked locals and fleeing soldiers than from North Vietnamese troops. He suggested landing Marines to stabilize a city section for evacuation. He noted South Vietnamese soldiers often fled despite ammunition and fuel, and the air force was crippled by poor maintenance.
