Arkansas Sees Rain Diminish With Approaching Cold Front

A cold front moves into Arkansas this afternoon bringing a rainy day and northeast moving showers. Moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms covered much of the western part of the state this morning as conditions trend toward improvement tonight. The National Weather Service placed the front in southwest Texas earlier today.

Arrnett predicts Saigon fall within a month

AP war correspondent Peter Arnett told the AP meeting that Saigon could fall to the Communists in about a month with Americans at greater risk from panicked locals and fleeing soldiers than from North Vietnamese troops. He suggested landing Marines to stabilize a city section for evacuation. He noted South Vietnamese soldiers often fled despite ammunition and fuel, and the air force was crippled by poor maintenance.

Workshop on nursing in El Dorado covers trauma care

An emergency nursing care workshop on Burns Fractures and Multiple Trauma will be held in El Dorado at the National Bank of Commerce from 8 30 a m to 3 30 p m on Tuesday April 15. Attendees include emergency personnel from ten counties and hospital nursing directors. Sponsored by the Arkansas League for Nursing with funding from the Arkansas Regional Medical Program. There is no fee.

All Around Town oratorical contest in Hope April 10

An oratorical contest will be held Thursday April 10 at 7 am in the Rodeway Inn Restaurant with the Hope Optimist Club as sponsor. First and second place trophies, a $500 scholarship for the winner, two divisions, and eight to five minute speech limits define the event with judging on delivery, organization, and overall effect.
