County bans overnight parking in Ottawa County lots

Ottawa County commissioners approved the Ottawa County Parking Lot Ordinance to curb overnight parking in county lots including the 58th District Court in Holland and the 20th Circuit Court in Grand Haven. A fine up to 500 dollars could be issued from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Opponents say the policy harms homeless residents and lacks enforcement staff. District Three Commissioner Doug Zylstra opposed the measure, hinting it could be amended later.
