Patricia Berens 79 of Zeeland died Wednesday July 4 2018. She was a longtime Resthaven bookkeeper and Christ Memorial Church member. Survived by husband Irwin sons Terry Craig Jeff and their wives, seven grandchildren, one great granddaughter, sister Norma Woodwyk and several in laws. Visitation July 8 2018 at Yntenna Funeral Home and July 9 2018 at Christ Memorial Church with funeral service July 9 2018. Interment Bentheim Cemetery. Memorials to Resthaven encouraged.

Charles C. Howell died July 3 2018 in Holland age 86 after a full life. He married Janet in 1989 and shared 29 years of travel community and family with five grandsons and multiple relatives. A pharmacist for 50 years he served in the Army Air Corps during Korea and worked at Hansen Drug Store Meijer retiring in 2006. He lived with humor and devotion to family and friends and requested donations to Hospice of Holland. visitation August 25 2018 with a 3 p.m. service at Dykstra Mulder Chapel Holland Michigan.

Fire on SS Ste. Claire sparks Boblo Island vessel history
Investigators suspect welding may have caused a fire on the steamship SS Ste. Claire, docked near Detroit, a former Boblo Island ferry. The aging wooden boat may be beyond salvage, though owner Ron Kattoo hopes for possible rebuilding. The Ste. Claire and Columbia last sailed in 1991 and were National Historic Landmarks designated in 1992.
