Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced a 150 million federal relief funding plan to boost local parks across Michigan, on July 6 at Connor Bayou in Grand Haven, atop a 250 million state parks investment proposal from last month. The effort, supported by the Natural Resources Department and Ottawa County, aims to expand park infrastructure and outdoor access as COVID-19 highlighted parks' value. The Idema Explorers Trail in Ottawa County will link Grand Haven to Grand Rapids, with park projects advancing along the route.
