Snow days linger as districts promise traditional breaks
West Michigan districts including Holland West Ottawa Zeeland Saugatuck and Fennville say they will keep traditional snow days if weather prevents safe travel while in-person learning remains the plan. Superintendent Brian Davis notes a traditional snow day will be used when conditions halt safe student travel and the district is otherwise open for face-to-face learning.

Nursing home residents to get vaccine this week
Holland nursing homes will begin giving their first shots of a COVID 19 vaccine to residents and staff this week. CVS and Walgreens clinics will vaccinate at facilities under a federal program offering free vaccination for residents and staff. Nursing homes signed up to receive the vaccine through one of the two national chains for on site administration. See VACCINE A2.

Holland Hospital welcomed Houston Lee Rios born at 11 40 a m to Shelby Deleon and Justin Rios. He weighs 5 pounds 6 ounces and is 19 inches long. Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Hospital welcomed Jace Roger Perrin born at 3 12 p m to Ashley and Lane Perrin of Hudsonville. Jace weighs 8 pounds and is 21 inches. He joins brother Noah and sister Harper. Both families received gift baskets from the hospitals.
