Michigan Republicans push curb on attorney general power
In Lansing the Senate approved a bill 26 to 12 to let the legislature intervene in court cases typically handled by the attorney general. Critics say the move undermines Democrats and voters and targets Dana Nessel as the first Democratic AG in 16 years. Republicans defend the measure as preserving legislative voice amid more court challenges.

Snyder Seeks 630 Million for Roads Water and CPS Hiring
Gov. Snyder proposes final budget he would sign before leaving office including 183 million in online sales tax for roads, 160 million to savings, 43 million for PFAS water cleanup, 31 million to bolster child protection, and 4.5 million for a tunnel plan under the Straits. The package adds 21 million to reduce CPS caseloads, with startup costs of 10 million for computer upgrades. Critics call for broader funds addressing unemployment fraud victims and polluter controls, while Enbridge oversight and a Mackinac Bridge Authority role on the tunnel are debated.
