Unemployment rates revised in Ottawa and Allegan Michigan
Michigan data show seasonally unadjusted unemployment declined in October after corrections to September figures. Ottawa County's rate is corrected to about 4.4 percent, Allegan about 3.9, with statewide 4.7 percent. Livingston leads at 2.8 and Mackinac 3.2. Ottawa ranked fourth, Allegan sixth among 83 counties.

Douglas' longtime mayor resigns from Douglas council seat
Patricia Lion, mayor for two years, resigned from the Douglas City Council last week in a Nov. 24 letter. She stepped down after council declined to reappoint her as mayor for a third year, with Jerry Donovan chosen. Lion, who also ran the Rosemont Inn, plans to move to North Carolina as the council seeks an appointment to serve out her term ending November 2022.
