Michigan Senate passes 3.3B water infrastructure bill
The Michigan Senate approved 3.3 billion in water infrastructure spending to replace lead pipes and repair aging dams statewide. The package funds about 2.4 billion in federal aid, 1.0 billion from the pandemic rescue law, and 650 million for a dam loan fund plus 400 million for the Great Lakes Water Authority. Benton Harbor and Flint precedents frame the plan as a treatment of lead risks with a 2040 replacement goal. The House will take up the bill next year.
