Judge Allows Photos in Chance Slaying Trial
A Kent County judge ruled photos of Ashley Young dismemberment may be used as evidence in the case of Jared Chance, a Holland native facing murder and mutilation charges. The torso was found December 2 in Chance’s Grand Rapids rental home. Young was last seen November 29. Trial slated for September 9 in Grand Rapids.

Burglar Strikes Sheldon Party Store in Georgetown Township
Ottawa County deputies responded to an early Friday morning intrusion at the Sheldon Party Store 2050 Chicago Dr Georgetown Township found a broken window. The thief took cigarettes alcohol and small items and fled before officers arrived. Anyone with information should call Ottawa County Central Dispatch or Silent Observer.

Two motorcycle crashes in Wright Township injure two men
In Wright Township near 8th Avenue and Hayes Street two separate motorcycle crashes occurred within minutes of each other on Thursday August 15. A 47-year-old Wyoming man riding a 2014 Harley Davidson suffered severe head injuries and was flown to Spectrum Health. A 44-year-old man on a 2005 Harley Davidson received head injuries and was taken to Spectrum Health by Life EMS after treatment at the scene. Neither rider wore a helmet. Speed cited as a factor. investigations ongoing with Ottawa County Sheriff's Office and local firefighting units assisting.
