Wings of Mercy hosts Holland Care Affairs fundraiser
Wings Of Mercy, a West Michigan nonprofit, held its Holland Care Affairs at West Michigan Regional Airport. The event featured pancake breakfast, model airplane building, airplane rides, and a 5K run to raise funds for free flights to distant medical facilities. Organizers expect $30,000 to $40,000, supporting fuel costs and operations for volunteer pilots across the United States east of the Rockies and chapters in Minnesota and East Michigan.

Giant egg shaped tank to tackle Holland sludge problem
In about three years Holland will add an anaerobic digester at the waste water plant. The egg shaped tank will convert sludge to gas, cut disposal costs, reduce odor and provide renewable energy as gas powers plant operations. The $23 million project seeks low interest EGLE funding and may qualify for a Green Project Reserve program.
