Court date set for Holland man Jesus Rincon in stabbing case
Holland Township resident Jesus Salas Rincon, 46, faces charges after police say he tried to stab and kill his wife at her Zeeland workplace on July 26. He fled, cut himself, damaged a sheriff patrol car, and disrupted power to about 1,500 Holland BPW customers before being arrested. A preliminary exam to decide on trial timing is set for Aug. 17 in Holland.

Ottawa dispatchers hailed for lifesaving pool rescue in Las Vegas
Three Ottawa County Central Dispatch members rushed to aid an unconscious woman pulled from a Las Vegas hotel pool. Ryan Culver and Meagan Ross performed CPR with a lifeguard for about 10 minutes while Megan Chapman dried the victim and they prepared an AED. Despite efforts and ambulance arrival, the girl did not revive. Culver, recently named Dispatcher of the Year, helped coordinate until paramedics took over.
