Serpent Sideplate Found at Mackinaw Fort Dating to 1770s
Archaeologists at Fort Michilimackinac uncover an 18th century serpent sideplate from a British trade gun, about 5 inches long, believed to date to the 1770s. The find, among few gun parts at the site, expands insight into daily life at the fort during the era as the 60th anniversary dig catalogues and stores artifacts for future study and display.
