Hobbs Plan Advances Black Carlsbad Street Project
Hobbs planning members were told federal funds are available for the Carlsbad Street improvement. State WPA Administrator Lee Melland said $11,261 was allocated for the project under federal and state programs. Work on curbing, gravel base, and paving should finish in about four months with federal approval easing labor concerns for eight months. The completion aims to spur local merchants after five years of effort. Carlsbad Street would be Lea County’s first pavement.
