Completion of the Kohala Ditch Opens Waterways
At Kohala on June 11 Mrs Parker christened the Kohala Ditch releasing 20 million gallons daily into the newly opened spillways. The 21 mile system will eventually carry Waipohe and tributaries to Kohala’s lands, with 14 miles completed and 5 miles tunneled. The project doubles cane yield, supports 13,000 acres under ditch, and spurs further ditches to Hamakua and Waipio.
