Six Are Honored For Service To Schools
Six board employes and a retiring member of the Board of Education were feted on September 14 for long service to the school system. Honorees include Abe Charnack former board president Dr Jerome J Reich school physician since 1931 32 and four staff with over 20 years service Muriel Scherrer Saybrook Apt Morris School Leonard Strassman music director at the high school Charles Nelder school custodian and Mrs Margaret Ledford matron at Hillside High. A resolution honoring Charnack was adopted and presented by T Lute Share with the others receiving certificates. Sixteen teachers were reclassified on the salary guide with pay increases for the year. A note from the State Board of Education approved adding Mt Geri f and A one mathematical analysis to the high school program. Dr Wayne T Branom superintendent authorized to purchase eight more typewriters for 180 each as room rearrangement adds 48 daily seats. Coaches appointed with honorariums include Louis Campanelli 225 assistant football. Manuel Marshall 400 head track. Philip Borodyanko 200 assistant track. cross country 300. Dr Jerome J Reich resigned as school physician. Dr Frederick Carracino appointed at Hillside Avenue School at 350. Transportation request for Quabeck area referred for action. Enrollment on opening day totaled 4 196 up 57 from last year across several schools with mixed changes.
