Mrs. Sadie Blumenfield 74 of Clinton Place was assaulted on Williamson Ave last Monday afternoon by two men who stole her pocketbook containing about 4 to 5 dollars and miscellaneous papers. She saw four men exit a car at 3 30 p m, walk up behind her, knock her down, and flee via Crescent Ave.

Station Cheated Second Time In Maple Ave Gas Purchase

Two men at Maple Esso Station on 160 Maple Ave swindled a clerk after buying 5.15 dollars of gasoline and asking to check tires. Attendant Michael Labiak was left at the pump as the car drove off. Linden resident Toward Zenvick later identified the pair as those who had used a stolen card to buy ties elsewhere.

Tindle Tops Police Test In Township Queue

Jack R. Tindle of 284 William Street finished first in the township patrolmen qualifying examination as announced by the New Jersey Civil Service Commission. Frank R. Vandean of 564 Purce Street and Edwin T. Moynihan of 1200 S Long Avenue placed second and third. The salary range is $6,495 to $7,500.

The Honorary PBA of Hillside Local 70 adopts a resolution urging members and families to cancel Life magazine subscriptions due to coverage of the Newark riots, calling the reporting unfair to police. Cable Theft Reported at Hatfield Wire and Cable Plant

Gordon Cunnane, plant manager at Continental Copper and Steel Industries Hatfield division, reported seven skids of cable valued at 6000 dollars stolen from a shipping room. The theft occurred last Friday. police were notified Tuesday.

Two Men Held On Gasoline Theft Charge

William J. Royle and Frank J. Nemeth, both 18, were charged with stealing gasoline from a parked truck at Detroit Mold and Engineering Co at 1217 Central Ave. Bail set at $10 each pending Municipal Court appearance. Nemeth arrested on Hollywood Ave and Beyle surrendered at Police Headquarters.

Car Skids Injure Two Drivers on Bloy Street Overpass

Two drivers were injured when a car skidded off the Bloy Street overpass at 2 16 p m Sunday. Edwin J Sheldon 26 of 1012 Fairhaven Place Fairlawn and Robert W Zside 31 of NS Liberty Aves were involved. Sheldon was taken to St Elizabeth Hospital and Mrs Zside was treated for a left leg injury.
