ADL to honor Bernard Zients at Waldorf dinner

Bernard B. Zients of Hill side executive head of Gimpels New York will be honored by the ADL Appeals division at a testimonial dinner planned for October 27 at the Waldorf Astoria. Zients, a longtime anti bigotry leader, serves as director for several organizations and is a trustee of Temple B nai Jeshurun Newark.

Airborne appoints Anthony Scardayille as Production foreman

Edward L. Kanouse, personnel director at Airborne Accessories Corp., announces Anthony M. Scardayille of 325 Portia St., South Amboy, has been named foreman in the Production Department. Scardayille joined Airborne in 1956, is a Central High School Newark graduate, attended Oklahoma A&M College, and is pursuing further studies at Rutgers University.

Hurden-Looker Student Council Sets Election Plans

The Hurden-Looker School Student Council organized its annual meeting and outlined activities for the year. Officers will be elected in October with campaigning and candidate speeches for the student body. Voting is open to fourth through eighth grade students on Monday November 2. The winners will be announced at the Election Day program. Faculty advisor is Mr. John Stasi.

Bible Mastery Months at First Hillside Baptist

The First Baptist Church Hillside observes Bible Mastery Month with Rev. Howard Kingsley noting about 30 members signed up to read three chapters daily from First Timothy and Second Timothy during October. In ten days they have logged 815 chapters or about 16 000 verses as the pastor preaches from the same two books, aiming to master a Bible yearly and let it master life.
