Heart Association Marks Birthday in Union County
The Union County Heart Association marked its fifteenth birthday with a October 14 party at College Inn in Newark area. George Liss received a certificate of merit for service to the Heart Fund. Dr Bernard L Rosenberg was elected president, Manuel J Bowen MD received a token gav el. Bowen announced a new book This is Your Heart. Proceeds go to the chapter, with officers elected and praise for hospital support from Sister Ellen Patricia of St Elizabeth Hospital.

Parade for Tercentenary in Elizabeth honors 300th anniversary
The Union County Tercentenary Committee staged a October 18 parade through Elizabeth with about 10,000 spectators. Grand marshal Williard Cupit led units including Jersey Blues, Boy Scouts, police and fire brigades, and UCTC delegates. At Warinanco Park crowds of 6,000 gathered for stadium ceremonies awarding bands, floats, and sports honors to Mickey Walker, Red Cochrane, John Farrell Sr., Kathryn Yeo, Marvin Speidel, and Leslie Lawn among others.
