Emil E Crisafulli Dies. Hillside Educator and Veteran

Emil E Crisafulli 41 of 1044 Thomas St died Friday at Clara Maas Hospital Belleville after a career as a chief X ray technician at Columbus Hospital Newark and service on the Hillside Board of Education since 1962. He was a Navy World War II veteran active in the Holy Name Society Knights of Columbus and Pop Warner. He leaves a wife two sons his mother three brothers and a sister. Services were held Tuesday at Growney Funeral Home and Christ the King Church Hillside.

PBA Leaders Urge Yes Vote On Raise In Hillside Referendum

Hillside Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association leaders Alfonso Minergino and others urge residents to vote Yes on the November 3 referendum to raise patrolmen pay. They argue current base pay of 6400 a year ranks 19th in Union County and that take home for a family is about 100 a week. They emphasize residents pay little for higher pay and note patrolmen work nights and Sundays without extra compensation and respond within three minutes to emergencies.
