Recreation Board approves school program use of multiple sites
The Board of Education granted the Recreation Commission permission to use multipurpose rooms at George Washington Calvin Coolidge and Harden-Looker schools on Monday Wednesday Friday evenings and Saturday mornings. A change to move Saturday morning programs to afternoon at Coe Avenue Hillside Avenue Harden-Looker George Washington and Calvin Coolidge schools was rejected. The old Harden-Looker auditorium and kitchen will host 3 to 5 pm programs daily previously run at the Recreation Center. Mrs. Samuel Carroccia started the program yesterday, with access to gymnasiums at Hillside Coe and Harden-Looker for Boy Scout Jewish Community Center Lads Club and church programs.

Realignment Cuts Sharp Curves on Dley Street Overpass
In Trenton on November 10, two bids were opened for closing 47 openings in the center island of Route US 22 in Mountainside Union County to reduce accidents. The plan includes 1.2 miles of island gaps with crossovers for emergency use and a short overpass realignment in Hillside to straighten curves at Lee Street. The project may widen parts of Westfield Avenue overpass to 22 feet and add a new turnaround for northbound to southbound traffic.
