Westinghouse dealers embark on 12 day Europe trip

Sixty Westinghouse TV radio dealers from New York and New Jersey depart March 1 for a 12 day European tour. The group tours Genoa Milan Paris and other cities as part of Westinghouse Be My Guest travel incentive. A consumer promotion phase ends June 1. The trip began with a Bon Voyage brunch at the Savoy Plaza Hotel before boarding Sabena World Airlines.

St Mary Magdalene to Mark Pentecost at 11 Am Service

New Church Pastor to Be Installed at Hillside Presbyterian

Rev Ronaldo Ossmani will be installed Wednesday evening as minister of Hillside Presbyterian Church by the Presbytery of Ehelbeth. Rev Robert G. Lengaker of Cranford will give the invocation and read the scripture, with Rev Robert W. Scott of Elizabeth offering prayer. An installation sermon by Rev Kenneth Walter of Janden Presbyterian Church will carry the message So I Am With You Alway.

New Resident Dies After Hanging Up Clothes Line

Jor sep J. Coyle, 53, of 264 Fitzpatrick sect, collapsed while preparing a clothes line and ladder setup in his rear yard. A police detail administered oxygen until Dr. Peyser arrived. Convalescent Home Application Denied on Liberty Avenue

Samuel B. Krasny sought a zoning variance to open a 50 bed convalescent home on Liberty Avenue between Millard and Herbert, in a Business A zone. After objections from the Liberty Avenue Businessmen's Association and about 60 nearby residents, the Zoning Board of Adjustment unanimously denied the plan, citing ordinance limits and traffic concerns.

Miss Costa To Get Degree In Kansas

Miss Cathy Costa, daughter of Mr and Mrs Wilin Costa, will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree next May at St Scholastion College in Atchison Kansas. A junior president of the student council, she is a senior class officer and treasurer. The Supreme Court refused six to one to overturn the ruling in a trade secrets dispute involving Adolph Gottseho and the American Marketing Corp. Memorial Day Parade Set in Hillside

Memorial Day parade plans in Hillside call for a large procession Monday morning May 30 with a stop at Evergreen Cemetery. It will assemble at Hillside High School at 9:30 and proceed along Liberty Avenue to Oakland Terrace before marching through several streets to the Veterans Memorial. The Third Division will conclude at Evergreen Cemetery for a bugle call and ceremony. The lineup includes Burl Anderson’s Band, town officials, police and fire departments, U.S. Army units, and various veterans organizations with a reviewing stand for Gold Star Mothers. Memorial services will follow at the War Veterans Memorial on May 29 at 8 p.m.

Bank Honored by Kiwanis in Hometown Charter Anniversary

Hillside National Bank was honored on the thirty fifth anniversary of its chartering May 21 1920 by the Hillside Kiwanis club in a MOPH program at a diner in the Hitchin Post Tank Union last week. The event recognized the bank as the first institution in a program launched by Mayor Henry Goldhor to honor those who contribute to humanity. Guests included Juanita Balderstor one of the bank’s original employees and vault custodian and George Smith account holder one. Gifts were presented by former Mayor Benjamin Hale who noted the bank’s growth after hiring James A Oneil as cashier in 1937. State Banking Commissioner Charles Howell praised the bank and Mr Oneil. Other speakers included George Munsuk treasurer of the New Jersey Banker Association. Numerous gifts were given to bank officers and staff by Kiwanis members and guests including fishing tackle golf clubs a scooter a bowling ball and a large gifts apron with Rotary emblem. Patrolman Victor Heller attended in uniform and presided as Kenton Wood bank president attended as a guest. The report notes a telegram from Congressman continued on page 8.
