Suspect Chased Through Evergreen Cemetery
Hillside police and park police pursued one of two holdup men in Evergreen Cemetery with Elizabeth and Essex County officers. John Shea, 21, of 657 North Broad Street Elizabeth, was captured at the Kraft Foods Evans Terminal plant and confessed to two robberies. A second man, Morris Meade, 24, of 1160 Mary Street Elizabeth, escaped by vaulting the cemetery fence. The pair are linked to a theft of a car and $80 from James De Joy near Route 1 Avenue in Avennes. James Mason, 36, of 310 Bond Street Elizabeth, reported being threatened by two women on a bus returning from Newark. investigators believe he is connected to the same pair.

Bette Silva and Dene Davis of Hillside High School performed in an Amenenty Ballet Academy concert at Salter Mill Playhouse Millburn.
