Wayne Tomato 21 of 1228 Magiulia Place Union admitted driving the motorcycle that outran police and caused a patrol car crash in Irvington. Deputy Chief Charles Grant said he will be arraigned in Municipal Court on May 11 after summonses issued by Detective Sgt. William Dieroff Sr. and Detective Robert Mason. Tomato had earlier failed to appear, was at an autobody shop, and claimed to be unable due to four summonses in New Providence. He admitted panicking when Hillside patrols pursued him and noted his racing hobby and license issues.

Six Civil Air Patrol planes simulated a bomb attack, prompting evacuations of mock victims as about 600 personnel from 22 municipalities attended. Driver on revoked list fined or jailed in Jersey City
Oscar Carter, 29, of 39 Dales Avenue Jersey City, was fined 200 dollars or 30 days in jail for driving while revoked on April 29 by Magistrate W William Di Buono in Municipal Court.
