Oldest Honored At Tribute To Township 50 Year Residents

Hillside residents honor 50 year town dwellers in a ceremony led by Mayor Desch. Doremus of Farms born 187? and Mrs Catherine Burke aged 71 among the oldest recognized. Clock gifts, photo keepsakes, and copies of The Hillside Times were presented. Speakers praised progress and civic service as many township employees and long-time residents received certificates.

History mobile to visit Elizabeth in May 1964

Union County Tercentenary Committee announces the New Jersey Historymobile will come to Elizabeth on May 6 9am to 3pm. Towns oldest resident dies at 104 in Hillside

James Chadwick, Hillside's oldest resident aged 104, died at 136 Fairbanks Street, at his sister's home. A former ferryboat oiler for the Lackawanna Erie Railroad from Hoboken to New York, his services will be at Growney Funeral Home, 1070 No Broad Street, Friday at 11 am. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Survived by three daughters Edith Johnson, Adeline Schumann, and Irene Schard, a son Ray W., seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and four adopted grandchildren.

Rhodes School Creates Mundet Memory Scholarship

Mundet Cork Corp. announces a new Mundet Memory Scholarship at the Rhodes School in New York City in memory of the late Joseph Mundet.
