In Morris County a proposed global jetport tops debate as Special Attorney Robert Diamond warns Newark Airport may become second rate. He backs a New Jersey airport authority and Jersey Jetport Site Association efforts to keep the jetport from New York’s area and push New Jersey focused action. Also, Berkeley Savings warns members about a looming federal tax bill affecting savers and mutual institutions, urging letters to Congress to support H.R. 10650.

Hillside Officials Oppose Newark Airport Flight Path

Hillside officials led by Mayor Sidney Birnbaum met with Ronald Krause of the Port Authority aviation section at the Military Park Hotel to voice safety and noise concerns about the east west Newark Airport runway path over Hillside. Krause said FAA establishes the pattern and that runway extension would raise plane altitude. PA insists jets remain unlikely though flights may be short to medium range with west coast stops.
