Two Drivers Hurt In Route 22 Crash Near Liberty Ave
Sunday crash on Route 22 near Liberty Avenue left two drivers with injuries. Martin J. Dunn, 17, of 236 Hillside Ave., and John H. Bowman, 54, of Altoona, were involved when Dunn tried to pull in front of Bowman's tractor-trailer. Dunn suffered facial injuries and possible head trauma and was treated then moved to Elizabeth General Hospital in fair condition. Bowman, in fair condition, was treated at St. Elizabeth Hospital ICU after the jackknifing rig struck a pole. The Ward Trucking Co. tractor-trailer was the other vehicle. Dunn’s car belonged to Milton Carracino.

Patrolman La Cara Save Two Then Is Injured In Collision
Patrolman Lawrence La Cara 27 saved two residents at 244 Hillside Ave in front of the Hillside Elks Club when a skidding car driven by Brother John J. Klein 24 struck the pickup and a Kingston Co bus van. La Cara sustained leg injuries requiring 26 stitches and was treated at St. Elizabeth Hospital. the two rescued residents Daniel Menza 50 and Mary A Kaszyk 50 were in a prior collision with the Klein vehicle during the incident.

Hillside Police study by Newark bureau eyed for public view
Newark based Police Administrative Services Bureau conducts a week long fact finding study of Hillside Police Department under Mayor Marvin Corwick and Police Chief George Shelbourne. Pollutn survey nears 70 percent completion in town
