Hillside Pool Plans Summer Activities and Low Membership
Hillside community pool will close for the summer on June 25 with a new season starting shortly after. The pool offers a private-club feel with a day camp for ages five to twelve, free morning swim lessons, junior and senior lifeguard courses, teen and adult dances, and Sunday softball on Central Ave. field with six teams. Cadwallader 53 YMCA Head Dies After Brief Illness
Robert Cadwallader aged 53 died Sunday at St Elizabeth Hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services were held March 3 at Greyney Funeral Home Hillside. He owned Cadwallader Supply Co Hillside for 12 years and earlier worked for Abe Gruber Co Elizabeth. Survivors include wife Gladys H Cadwallader son Robert Ty sister Dorothy Strunk and his mother Bailily Hopkinson Cadwallader of Hillside. Interment Evergreen Cemetery.

Rotary Club Donates 5000 to Hillside Scholarship Fund
Hillside Rotary Club voted to give 5000 to the Hillside High School Scholarship Fund with 500 yearly grants named for the club. Theodore Mayhew presented the plan with Anton Vit Jr. and others on the awards committee. The fund, begun nine years ago by J Franklin Reinhard, now totals 7000 and aims to aid tuition for students based on service, academics and need. The first grant will be awarded at June commencement, with additional nursing support of 200 to student nurses.
