Driver with an Alias Faces Court Action Over Identity
Haywood Artis 40 of East Orange admitted using Joseph L Benson as an alias adopted when he joined the Army in 1940 at 21. Magistrate Henry Goldhor heard how a license was under Benson while registration bore Artis, and the case was postponed for fingerprint verification by the Detective Bureau. Artis, employed at General Brass in Hillside, said he feared his family would object to his real name. Judge Goldhor said the alias must be stopped to prevent Motor Vehicle record confusion.

Death of 4 year old Kath Baumgartner Prompts Truck Traffic Reform
After 4 year old Kath leen Baumgartner died when she ran into a truck near her Franklin street home, about 50 parents filled a Franklin street meeting urging a ban on trucks, speed limits, and traffic controls. Police will study radar enforcement, one side street parking limits, and possible light signals at Hillside and Franklin. The petition seeks to curb tractor trailers using Franklin street to bypass Liberty avenue lights.
